Departure 04:54
Departure by Jeremy Peyton, copyright 2012 Leave me alone for a while. I need some time to think. I can’t remember which thoughts are mine or those you told me. And as much as I’m entertained, I’m still hopelessly bored. If I’m to ever do anything, I’ve got to break away. Chorus (This is) What I’ve been waiting for (But still) I am stuck to my floor (Trading) All my hopes and all my dreams (Waking) I wanna be left alone for a while Won’t you break my heart? I’ve loved too many things. I wanted happiness and safety, but that’s all been a lie. Be my direction. I wasn’t going anywhere anyway. And take my emotions. They just lead me astray. (chorus) Is this remote in my hand so much different than A needle in my arm or pills to make me numb? And there’s nothing sadder than being given a second chance And using it to stay right where I am. I’d change the world if I could only get out of bed. (verse 1) Chorus (This is) What I’ve been waiting for (But still) I am stuck to my floor (Trading) All my hopes and all my dreams (Waking) I wanna be left alone for a while (This is) This is what I’ve been waiting for (I feel) Life can be so much more (I see) I’m worth more than I ever dreamed (Leaving) It’s time to let go of me And I wanna be left alone for a while

Consider It Done by Jeremy Peyton, copyright 2012 If I had all of the boldness in the world I could not ask for you to go through what you did All that you paid to save me has me thinking, makes me sing Chorus I don’t deserve this. I couldn’t earn it. How did I get your love? You went and bought me. My God, you’ve got me. Whatever you say, whatever you want Consider it done. If that was it and heaven’s all you gave to me Well it’s way too much for me to ever think or dream Your passion, so fantastic, pushes you to spoiling me (chorus) What do you give a God who has got everything I know you want me and that’s so hard to believe, but Alright, if you insist, I’m waiting by the back door I’ll stop pretending I’m busy ‘cause you’re too tough to ignore You have blown me away You have blown me away You have shown me the way to you So here I am. I surrender, Lord, I’m through And by your strength, I will live for pleasing you With all I’ve got inside me I will sing your praise because

Grace Is For Freeloaders by Jeremy Peyton, copyright 2012 I’ve worked so hard Done all I know to be someone you might like I’m embarrassed about the shape I’m in Wait outside while I clean up a bit The joke is on you And the joke is on me Only because of my empty hands can I embrace you chorus Grace is for freeloaders. Heaven’s full of beggars Eternal light has always been a beacon for those with no place to go White robes are for the naked. Laugh lines mark the orphans Theology is only comprehended in the hearts of children Poor I come now Weaker yet, still I can’t stand the smell of myself Holy presence, guilty conscience How I try to measure up But truth is bigger than me And love will overcome My growling stomach is leading me to savor your mercy (chorus) My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness

Admiring You 04:04
Admiring You by Jeremy Peyton and Matthew Ball, copyright 2012 I’ve been admiring you today Things I’ve seen a thousand times Are wonderful in a new way I didn’t notice before Green leaves turn to fiery red Surely it’s a miracle Fall to the path where I have tread Walkin’ on holy ground chorus These things change me, giving me new eyes Glory painted all across the sky Admiring you So come on and show me more It’s never felt so good to breathe It’s like you’re in the air The autumn stars are back again Seems like I can see every one Could we just sit and stare at them? And would you tell me their names? (chorus)

My One Desire by Jeremy Peyton & Matthew Ball, copyright 2012 I am lost in the noise of life Waiting here, I hunger for you I have come to be with you Take this life and lift it up again prechorus All I am is wanting to be in your presence Just to swim the depths of you Hold me in your mercy Let me know your kindness Captivate me once again chorus My prayer is that you would be my one desire To know you more and more each day To trust in you. I hope in your great faithfulness You are good. You are good Calm the storm. Still my heart Let me hear your still small voice Heal my eyes. Stir my soul Let me see how wonderful you are (prechorus, chorus) In stillness and trust you will find your strength Repentance and rest will reveal salvation (prechorus, chorus)

I Could Have 05:08
I Could Have by Jeremy Peyton, copyright 2012 I could have loved you, my will resigned I could have melted, my heart refined I could have held my hand to your plow And reaped the light I don’t see now I could have set my feet to your race And been the flesh to your holy grace I could have taken your vineyard grapes And pressed the wine of your precious praise Li la li I could have known you, my mind at ease I could have drifted, your breath my breeze I could have seen you cut through the haze And stared into your wild loving gaze Li la li I could have (set my feet to your race) Oh, I could have (taken your vineyard grapes) Yet still I hear you race to rescue me And the thunderous pounding of my father’s feet Teach me to stay here, head against your chest I’ll never have to sing of my regrets And with my tears I will wash your feet When I collapse in victory Li la li

Watch Over You by Jeremy Peyton & Matthew Ball, copyright 2012 Staring at you while you dream I can’t help but feel uneasy It’s just that I Never in my wildest dreams thought that you’d look up to me And tell me how could you be prepared For all of the pain that’s waiting out there When all that I can do is Watch over you while you sleep Watch over you ‘til you leave I am flattered but I fear I’ve been overestimated I’m just a man Struggling with his own importance What could I teach you? And how could I ever touch your life Given our fleeting chance in time And all that I can do is Watch over you while you sleep Watch over you ‘til you leave Although you’re much too young to know I can speak deep into your soul So when you’re drowning in life’s throws You’ll hear a song of love and hope And all that I can pray is Watch over you while you sleep Watch over you when you leave

Sweetest Little Thing by Jeremy Peyton, copyright 2012 When I get up, she’s the first thing on my mind And I’m still buzzin’ from the way she looked the last time She’s got such powerful stuff No matter how much I get, I can never get enough and I know This changes everything Cuz it’s all that I can talk about You’d be safe to say I’m preoccupied It would seem it’s taken over me But it’s so hard to define what I mean Anna and me, we got the sweetest little thing goin’ on She’s all woman, that’s for sure But we can laugh like children rollin’ ‘round the livingroom floor She’s tough but still so kind I don’t have to tell you, brother, that’s a hard combination to find She’s such a mystery She’s an emerald island undiscovered Like a peacock hidin’ his tailfeathers It’s a dream in my reality Still it’s so hard to describe what I see Anna and me, we got the sweetest little thing goin’ on I know it seems a little fast with all the pain that’s in our past Could we be heading for another heartache? But if it’s love and love is real, then knowing pain’s part of the deal I could protect myself but then I’d miss the dance of living When love has conquered me Go on and get that girl. Go on, go on... Anna and me, we got the sweetest little thing goin’ on

Love Made Low by Jeremy Peyton, copyright 2012 How is it tongues can sing of such marvelous things? How could words ever tell of our great Emmanuel? Wonders of our God come taught to daughters and our sons Sovereign God, you have made yourself low Purest King born to be one of us This is an astounding love covered in humility If we drag it through the mud All your glory is not stained by some mockery we have made How could our earthly ink hold the thoughts that you think? How could bones be so bold to presume your frame to hold? How could hearts, yours and mine, be the throne of the divine? Precious Lord, you have made yourself low Holy Prince, came to be one of us He cried out an earnest song covered in humanity Even if so gently sung All your glory is not contained in some verses we could sing Like a babe set in hay, like the darkness giving way Like a flower, doomed to die, sends its seeds far and wide Like the rain comes to fall, sinners, saints, on us all

about

Mark Twain once wrote, "Lord save us all from a hope tree that has lost the faculty of putting out blossoms." The Hope Tree songs stem from my encounters with God in times of darkness. I am coming to know Him less as a faceless concept, and more as a vulnerable personality who relates to me directly. It seems like hope is a popular buzzword in modern culture, and faith is mystical and vague. I want to reveal blossoms by telling true stories of a real God.
